Young, single, adventurous and itching to do something different over Christmas?
If you’re young, single and want to try something adventurous, The Adventure Company (0845 287 1198; www.adventurecompany.co.uk) has a 'solo' departure to Morocco on the 23rd of December, reports the Telegraph. Stay in traditional nomad tents as you spend three days' trekking across the desert on camels through the Draa Valley to the Dunes de Tidri and small town of Ouled Driss. The expedition is set to last a week, when you reach your final destination, Marrakesh, where you’ll be given a guided tour of the city with an option to relax in a hammam. Rates start from £699 and include flights, accommodation, transport, most meals and a local group leader.
If you have a little more money available, you can hop across the pond and beyond and dedicate some time to help protect native sea turtles living along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Real Gap (01892 516164; www.realgap.co.uk), are organizing a week’s trip which departs on the 19th of December. Duties include patrolling the beach, working in the hatchery and helping to release baby sea turtles (pictured). But don’t worry, you’re given free time to join in the available water sports, and surf lessons are included in the £699 cost, which also includes full board, shared accommodation, and airport transfer. There are flights from Heathrow to Costa Rica.
