What’s new on the hotel scene in Amsterdam?

If you love seeing pictures of the beautiful and colourful canal houses in Amsterdam, why not stay in one? The Dylan, built from a number of canal houses, has maintained its historic façade but behind the exterior, the inside is something else! 41 rooms each have a different theme, all sporting striking contemporary design. British Airways (www.ba.com) are offering a three night stay at this hotel plus flights from London Heathrow from £647 per person, so log on now to get your deal.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a little high-end luxury, the Conservatorium Hotel (www.conservatorium.com) opened last month for business and serious pampering. The hotel offers a spa, and restaurant headed by famous Dutch chef Schilo van Coevorden. So called because it has been converted from the historic Amsterdam Music Conservatory, the hotel has opted for minimalist interiors by Piero Lissoni, a combination designed to delight and surprise. Rooms start at £340 per night.

And if you want to ‘buy British’, the Canal House is a boutique hotel which has just been opened by the owners of UK’s Cowley Manor. It offers 23 rather glamorous rooms with spacious bathrooms for luxuriating in and an excellent restaurant and garden. From £205 per night.
