Vancouver Holiday: the Great Outdoor Playground

A visit to Stanley Park on W. Georgia Street is the best way to kick off a Vancouver holiday. Recognized as one of the great parks of the world, Vancouver’s main tourist attraction features abundant wildlife, spectacular scenery, and relaxing activities. Trails lead visitors to areas where they can observe coyotes, skunks, racoons, a variety of birds, and other wildlife. Many beautiful themed gardens can be found all throughout, and the park hosts art events, as well as theatre performances. This is a family-oriented facility, with attractions such as the Children’s Farmyard, the Vancouver Aquarium, and a water park. Park restaurants like the Prospect Point Café, the Sequoia Grill, and the Fish House offer dining options.

Many visitors pay to cross the city’s numerous suspension bridges and take in the breathtaking view. The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge along Peters Road in Lynn Valley is absolutely free, and offers the same spectacular sights. Nearby forest trails can lead to further adventures, and the swimming hole is perfect for a quick dip or lazing around. The canyon café sells refreshing snacks and beverages.

Robson Street in the heart of downtown Vancouver is the shopping paradise of premiere fashion stores, restaurants, and gift shops. After a day of hard shopping, soothe those tired muscles at a day spa, or have coffee or a glass of wine at one of the hotels or restaurants, and wait for nightfall to be entertained by street performers.

Vancouver is as culturally diverse as any cosmopolitan centre, and this is reflected in the city’s cuisine. Thai Away Home on Commercial Drive offers tasty Thai treats at affordable prices. Great Italian food at a surprisingly cheap price is Presto Cucina’s specialty, along W. 4th Avenue. Cap your Vancouver holiday with some incredibly low-cost Chinese food at Hon’s Wun Tun House on Robson Street.
