Tourist destinations around the world

When the weather’s bad in the UK don’t stare out of the window waiting for the rain to stop – stare at your computer screen instead and book up a cheap holiday in a warm-weather destination. It doesn’t have to be expensive at all and you can get to the warmest parts of Europe within a few hours. You can get to Rome in four hours, to Bilbao in less than two hours and Paris in a little over an hour. If you want to travel out of Europe, you’ll have to prepare for a longer flight but most trips out of the continent are a once in a lifetime experience for most folk so the long-haul flight is worth it.

Asia is the largest and most populated continent on earth. It’s also one of the most diverse so don’t plan on visiting it just once. You’ll need to visit a handful of the 48 nation states that make up the continent to at least have a flavour of what’s on offer. This continent has some of the most diverse climates. You could get frostbite in Siberia or sunburnt in southern India so there’s much on offer for new and seasoned travellers. The geography is just as diverse as Asia is home to the Himalayasthat stretch between Nepal and China as well as the Gobi desert in China and Mongolia.

Africa has so much natural beauty to explore but there are a few nations in which travellers are not that welcome. Sticking to well-developed nations like South Africa and Zimbabwe is one way of enjoying Africa but you’ll miss out if you don’t see the treasures on offer when you safari in Namibia or Botswana.

North America

There’s so much more to North America than New York and Florida but they seem to be the places that most UK tourist end up when they visit the USA. A tour down Route 66 is the best way of seeing a big slice of America but let’s not forget that North America also offers Mexicoand Canada, two nations that offer holidays at each end of the spectrum. English speakers will have no language issues with Canadabut that’s not the main reason to visit. Niagara Fallsis one reason we’d recommend a trip but there are so many more. When you consider Mexico, you’re just as spoilt for choice. The Maya city of Chichen Itza is an example of one of the many archaeological wonders tourists visit Mexico to see.

South America

South American countries are often labelled “dangerous” for tourists but that’s sometimes an unfair way of describing them. Chileand Argentina are considered safe places to visit your travel agent will warn you to stay within your resort or designated tourist areas. The Galapagos Islands have to be the top destination. Whether you chose to hike along Darwin Trail where finches, flamingos and iguanas can be found, or snorkel with sea lions to sea turtles, you’ll find that the wildlife is the main attraction.

We probably know enough about Australia as a countryto know that a trip there at least once in our lives needs to be on our bucket list. The same can be said for New Zealand but what about islands like Papua New Guinea? This is one of the most culturally diverse nations on the planet and one of the prettiest too. Even the capital city, Port Moresby, which has been built up over the years remains picturesque.
