Top places to visit while you’re young

This is for all you young travellers who have the time, curiosity and energy to explore this vast and intriguing world we all reside in. While finances may not be exactly flowing out of your pockets, there are still many incredible places that should be visited while you are young so let's check out a few.

If you are in search of the ultimate adventure, pack up your rucksack and head for Peru in South America. Start by trekking your way through the Peruvian Andes where you can enjoy breathtaking views in and around Huaraz. This region is loaded with activities to be experienced and you can hit the whitecaps by white water rafting or maybe spend the day exploring the peaks and valleys on your mountain bike. Hauraz has a very relaxed feel making it easy to forget about your worries while sipping on a Pisco Sour and relaxing in the hot springs of Monterrey. After you have your fill of adventure in this place, you can tackle the historic 26-mile Inca Trail that snakes its way to the unforgettable sight that is Machu Picchu.

After Peru, if you still have the time and energy, make your way to Bolivia where you can explore the Salar de Uyuni. This is the world’s largest salt flat where you can drive for miles on end. You can choose to take your time and do a tour over 3 days or just do a day trip to get a feel for the area. It is a requirement that you take all sorts of photographs playing around with the incredibly unique landscape. You can also visit Lake Titicaca, the world’s largest high-altitude lake and the traditional manmade islands of the Uros people that float on the lake.

If South America doesn’t sound appealing, Cape Town in South Africa has so much to offer young travellers. Head to Table Mountain, either by hiking up and camping along the way or by riding the cable car, and then abseiling your way back down. Adrenaline seekers can get their fix during a world class shark cage dive which has become more and more popular throughout the years. You can also relax the night away in one of Cape Town's many bars to choose from. Make sure to spend some time on Clifton beach or Sandy Bay and for some r and r before heading home on the beautiful sand.

Let’s not forget some of the best places to party if that is what you are looking for. One of the most popular festivals to head to in Asia for young adults is the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan, Thailand. This all-night beach party consists from anywhere between 5,000 to 30,000 people with music blaring and drinks flowing all night and into the morning. Barcelona, Spain is another place with a great night-life and an abundance of culture. Time your visit with one of the many festivals that fills a jam-packed calendar throughout the year.
