The Posada del Patio hotel: one good reason, albeit not the only one, to go to Malaga.
On the south coast of Spain, close to North Africa, winters in Malaga are a much milder affair than back home, with average December temperatures between 12 and 18ºC. It’s also a city that’s on the up, having invested money in renovation projects over the last decade. The emblematic central ‘Mercado de Atarazanas’, with its attractive stained glass windows, re-opened in May of this year, the city has three new museums, and a state-of-the-art marina is nearing completion, reports the Telegraph.
And now, not only has the first five-star hotel opened in the city, but it is also offering excellent deals. A double room at the Posada del Patio costs just £78 per night, (or £91 including two tickets to the Picasso Museum). The hotel is located on the edge of the historic town centre, near the grand shopping boulevard, Calle Larios, and is 20 minutes from the beach. There’s a spa for pampering and the rooftop pool area (pictured) has great views of the city.
The design of both the rooms and common areas is cool and contemporary, although housed in a traditional building. Sip a cocktail and relax in the hotel bar and enjoy a view of an extensive ancient stretch of Arab city wall through the glass floor, designed for this purpose.
