Beer lovers have something to look forward to on their Copenhagen holiday. This is the home, after all, of the Carlsberg brewery, makers of “probably the best beer in the world.”
Your self-guided tour of this renowned facility begins at the Carslberg Visitors Centre, where you will find the Jacobsen Brewhouse. Named after Carlsberg’s founder, J.C. Jacobsen, the brewhouse was built in 1847 and is a living tribute to classic beer brewing and beer culture. See how beer used to be made in shining copper kettles, and taste some of the specialty beers exclusively available here. Enter the Aroma Room, and sniff 20 different aromas to find your favourite… and the beer to match!
Continue on around the centre and see buildings that are among the best examples of Industrial Age architecture in Denmark. Stroll through the old stables and pat the large Jutland horses, who in the past were used for beer transportation. Stroll through the sculpture garden and enjoy the Jacobsen collection, including a miniature version of “The Little Mermaid.”
One area of the centre houses the largest bottle collection in the world, with more than 16,000 kinds of beer bottles.
At the end of your tour, Carlsberg rewards you with the ultimate prize -- two free mugs of beer, absolutely free!
