Take to the seas and avoid stressful airport mayhem.
With last year’s airport mayhem still fresh in our minds, boarding a cruise ship and setting sail, knowing that everything is taken care of, is a very tempting option. Stylish cruises provide good standard cuisine and entertainment and allow you to lie back and relax while the captain and crew get you safely to your various destinations. But with the increasing number of cruises on offer, it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start.
If you’re a first time cruiser why not start close to home but in grand style? What could be better than a luxury ‘Round Britain Cruise’ on the long-established Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth’s maiden voyage? The cruise, recommended for pomp and ceremony lovers by the Daily Mail, sails from Southampton on the 2nd of September 2011 and costs from £1,549 per person.
Launched by the Queen, this unique cruise ship, which promises sumptuous dining and a hint of the glory of days gone by, will be calling in at a number of UK ports including what is historically Cunard’s home city, Liverpool. There are plans to commemorate the visit with a concert in Liverpool Cathedral that will feature the Welsh Guards, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Lesley Garrett.
