Take a city break to Norwegian capital Oslo.
Did you know that you can fly to Oslo for just £70 one way including taxes and charges? That’s the offer that SAS are advertising from London Heathrow, a great deal which enables you to visit one of Europe’s coolest capitals, with a flight time of under two hours from the UK.
Oslo lies at the tip of the stunning Oslofjord which is surrounded by wooded hills, so you can combine vibrant city life with the great outdoors, reports the Daily Mail.
Visit Oslo’s new Opera House, whose design is inspired by a giant glacier, the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design and the Nobel Peace Prize Centre. The capital’s harbour area is set for serious redevelopment, to be completed in 2020.
Music lovers visiting in June can take in the annual 4-day rock festival (9th-13th), Norwegian Wood, where Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr top the bill this year. And if you are visiting in August, enjoy the star-studded six-day Jazz Festival, from the 15th-20th of the month.
More the outdoor type? Head for Norefjell, around 2 hours northwest from Oslo. The area is perfect for cycling, walking and horse riding, and the views from Høgevarde, its highest point, are dreamy. If you’re with the family, try Hunderfossen Family Park in Lillehammer, with over 50 attractions based on Norwegian culture and traditions to choose from. Have fun!
SAS also fly to Oslo from Manchester and Dublin.
