With its cute cafes and cool bars and boutiques, a holiday in the Maltese capital of Valletta is no longer a throw-back to the 1980s, when package tours of the island were the last word in middle-class sophistication.
Typical of Valletta's metamorphosis into a chic spot for a short break is the minimalist Felix Street Apartment, newly available through Holiday Lettings.
An open-plan living room has all the high ceilings, exposed beams and cool artworks (Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe prints) that a modern couple could need, plus a hi-tech sound system, Moroccan bathroom and bedroom with a sunken bath at the foot of the bed.
Now, they do have a sofa bed in the apartment so it can sleep up to four, but with sunken bath, Warhol Prints and Moroccan Harem Style - there’s no way this place is for more than 2 (or 3 for the adventurous couples!)
Rooms cost from £195 per weekend. Check out HolidayLettings
