Stunning destinations, cut price flights

Travellers living in Scotland will be pleased to hear that the legendarily tight, scuse us, cost cutting airline Ryanair has launched 8 new routes from the capital. New routes from Edinburgh will serve - Barcelona (Girona), Brussels (Charleroi), Gdansk, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Memmingen (Munich West), Oslo (Torp) and Tenerife, as well as summer flights to Malta and Rome Ciampino.

The move follows news that Ryanair are scrapping 40 routes from Manchester following a row over airport taxes; in short, Manchester Airport refused to lower them, Ryanair stomped off in a huff. Flights to be cancelled from Manchester include; Barcelona (Girona), Bremen, Brussels (Charleroi), Cagliari, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Frankfurt (Hahn), Marseille, Milan (Bergamo) and Shannon.

Luckily for Northern travellers, budget airline Jet2 have quickly moved in to take Ryanair's place, and are now offering some great deals from both Manchester and Leeds Bradford to top European destinations. Not only do they have some great destinations - Ibiza, Sharm El Sheik, Sardinia, Rome, Alicante etc etc, the flights are generally connected to major rather than peripheral airports, taking the hassle out of transfers. Check out the site for details - our top tip is Sardinia from Sept with flights from as little as £1.99.

Ryanair in the meantime are looking to beef up services from East Midlands and Liverpool, as well as starting up 63 new flights from Leeds Bradford as of 2010. The airline is celebrating with a seat sale offering flights at only 5 euros apiece. Sale ends tomorrow, and is viable for flights booked between Sept 8th and Dec 19th. Book before they sell out.
