Spectacular Christmas lights displays around the world.
There’s nothing like spectacular Christmas lights to bring a sparkle into your life if you’re feeling a bit down from the winter chill. We’ve searched the web and come up with the following fabulous sites, as reported by Bing travel, which are guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit.
First on the list, and an easy hop from London by plane or on Eurostar, is Paris (pictured), where four-hundred trees, ablaze with one million energy-saving lights, adorn the Champs-Élysées along the mile-long stretch between Place de la Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe, giving this iconic boulevard a truly magical feel.
Further afield, if you can get there, the Winter Festival of Lights at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada is an amazing sight. The Falls are illuminated in a rainbow of colours every evening at nightfall from early November until the end of February. The traditional ceremony dates back to 1860, when the falls were first lit to celebrate a visit by the Prince of Wales. There is also a weekly fireworks display during the month of December.
Closer to home, visit Brussels, just a hop across the Channel and a short train ride away, where not only is the impressive gothic Town Hall decorated with lights, but the Grand Place which houses it, has a Son et lumière, or sound and light show, every evening illuminating the building.
