Sights to see on your Nice holiday
Come for the sun and the blinding blue of the sea on the most famous resort in the French Riviera, Nice.
And stay for the food. Have a ratatouille and you can tell your kids it isn’t just a Disney movie; this stew is made of tomato, eggplant and zucchini squash. Try the Salade Niçoise (salad with eggs, olives, tomatoes, green peppers, and anchovies or tuna), Pan Bagnat (tuna and vegetable sandwich), and Pissaladières (onion, anchovy, and olive tarts.
You can do more than get a tan on your Nice holidays; the place is also great for horseback riding, hang gliding, and clubbing. For music fans, the Nice Jazz Festival is held every summer, this year features the likes of George Benson, Diana Krall, and The San Francisco Jazz Collective.
If you haven’t had your fill of seashells yet, pop into Musée de Malacologie; you can always go to the Modern Art Museum, Musée Matisse, and Musée d'Art Naif another day. To see how cavemen lived, you can visit Grotte du Lazaret and Terra Amata; in these archaeological sites are stone arrangements which are supposed to be the first structures of human shelter. You can pay a visit to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral too, with its impressive exterior and haunting icons.
With all this culture, you’ll feel like a winner on your way home from your Nice holiday. No wonder it was named after the goddess of victory, Nike.
