If you don’t see yourself as a ‘costas’ person but love ‘the real’ Spain, you may be interested in browsing a new website the Spanish Tourist Board has just opened. Go to www.perfectplacespain.es for information on rural accommodation. The site is in Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese and comprehensive information is given on each property including nearby hiking routes and places of interest such as museums and beaches. If you see something you like you can reserve on line.
For example, an apartment sleeping 2 people in a country cottage in Galicia (Pontevedra area) starts at €72 per night and a double room with bath starts at €50. At the other end of the country, a double room in a rural hotel (pictured) in the province of Granada (30km from Granada city) starts at €63 low season and €85 high season.
The site is easy to use and offers accommodation throughout Spain and the Balearic and Canary Islands and aims to list quality establishments which give good value for money. The only downside is that many of the properties listed are hotels, so if you’re looking for a rural rent, your options are limited.
