Plymouth ferries to France and beyond
Although it is possible to travel to quite a few different places by ferry from Plymouth, there is only one major ferry company currently operating from there, and only one that offers Plymouth ferries to France, specifically Brittany Ferries.
The main route that Brittany Ferries offers from Plymouth is to Roscoff in France. They run 11 sailings a week on that route and crossings take roughly six to eight hours. However, they also run one ferry a week from St Malo, which is also in France, and takes around nine hours and fifteen minutes to get to, and one crossing a week to Santander in Spain, with a journey time of around nineteen and a half hours.
Since you have no choice about which company you travel with from Plymouth, you'll be pleased to know that Brittany Ferries runs an award-winning, modern fleet. They also provide optional accommodation of varying price and quality, from basic box rooms to spacious suites with flat screen TVs, DVD players and complimentary breakfasts. The ships also feature bars, restaurants and shops, and on the Plymouth to Roscoff route you'll find a pair of children's entertainers if you travel during the school holidays, so there's no need to worry about your kids getting bored. You can book with Brittany Ferries from brittany-ferries.co.uk
The only other ferry route available from Plymouth is to Cawsand in Cornwall. This route is run by the Cawsand Ferry Co and prices are as low as £4 for adults and £2 for children each way. The crossings only take half an hour and they run four times a day on small boats, the biggest of which holds up to 100 passengers, and none of them allow for vehicles.
