Tips for your famly holiday in Orlando Florida
When you think of a family holiday in Orlando Florida, the first thing that comes to mind is Walt Disney World. Although Walt Disney World and the many other theme parks will be the main attractions for most families, there is plenty more to see and do and to keep the whole family entertained. There's a great atmosphere in downtown Orlando, with excellent restaurants and a lively night-life. It's no surprise that Orlando is one of the most popular destinations for family holidays in the world.
When is the best time to visit? The peak tourist season in Orlando is between June and August. This is when the weather is hottest and when the most tourists visit, particularly families. Another busy season is around March and April and during the Easter holidays. Weather is pleasantly warm during Autumn and Spring and there are far fewer tourists around, so a holiday during these times might be a good option. There are also more bargains available on flights and hotel rates outside the peak summer period.
What are the must-see sights?
- Top of the list for most families will be Walt Disney World, which is located about 35 minutes southwest of downtown Orlando. With 20 million visitors a year, be prepared for queues!
- Universal Orlando Resort is located close to International Drive, and includes the original Universal Studios Florida and the newer theme park, Islands of Adventure. Be sure to check out their website in advance as it is possible to get discounts on tickets if you book online.
- Sea World Adventure Park is a marine theme park packed full of top class shows and rides and fun exhibitions. Again, you can get discounts on tickets if you book online.
You won't be short of things to do on an Orlando family holiday in Florida!
