New York is one of the world's most expensive cities, which is why many people are surprised when they learn you can get a cheap New York hotel. You just have to know where to look.
The Bowery House in Soho is a cute, hotel and hostel located just a couple of minutes walk from the Bowery subway station. It's close to Little Italy and a slew of New York museums, restaurants, cafes, and shopping areas.
You have a choice of a bunk bed in a shared room, or your own private room. Rooms share a bathroom but both rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean. The hotel has a living room with 65-inch TV, a small bar, and there's access to snacks and drinks if you don't feel like eating out.
If you choose the bunk bed option, you can get away with staying in New York as cheaply as $59 (£36) a night. For a private room, you'll pay only $64 (£39). Both rates do not include tax. These rates are for September, 2011, but they don't change that much throughout the year. Check out booking.com for the cheapest rates at The Bowery House.
