There are few things better than spending time with a loved one. Unfortunately though, it can be hard to make the time for a quality getaway. The Lake District is a well known romantic hotspot. Covered with lakes, forests, mountains and fells, there is much to explore in this vicinity. Endangered fish species swim in the lakes while ospreys and other bird species can be spotted flying high above the trees. If hiking does not sound like your bag, you may like the idea of renting a boat or kayak for two and exploe the park from a different perspective. At the end, you and your boo can cuddle up next to each other in a warm cozy cottage.
Cornwall is another beautiful area that is full of character. St. Nectan’s Glen Waterfall is classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty making it a must see for you and your other half. While you need to purchase a ticket before entering, you can explore the area for as long as you desire. Also head on over to St. Just Cathedral in Roseland where you can pay £3 an hour to have them turn on the floodlights in the evening.
If you are looking for something quiet, head to Cotswolds where you can stroll through the quaint romantic streets filled with limestone cottages. It is definitely worth driving through the rolling hills and meadows nearby. Make sure to stop off at Sudeley Castle and the world heritage site of Blenheim Palace and Gardens along the way. If you want a romantic spot to spread out a picnic blanket and take in the sights, the river at Bourton-On-The-Water is a tough spot to beat.
Even if you live in the city and don’t have time to take a full day or two off and getaway, there are still romantic places to escape to in London. On warm summer days, you can pack up and take your picnic supplies to find the perfect spot on any one of the green 800 acres in Hampstead. If you want to try something different, visit the local zoo and learn about wildlife or you and yours can even head to the English National Opera to spend some quality, romantic time together.
