Spoil yourself on Mallorca Holidays
Mallorca is an island off the east coast of Spain in the group of islands called the Balearic islands. It is the largest Spanish island and has long been a favourite holiday destination for thousands upon thousands of holidaymakers with its Mediterranean climate and well-developed tourist facilities.
The capital city of Palma is well worth exploring. It has some very attractive buildings and a vibrant cultural scene. The Consell de Mallorca tourist office is on Placa de la Reina in Palma. The museum of modern and contemporary art houses works by Miro and Picasso. Elsewhere are the disused but atmospheric banys Arabs, the only remaining monument to the Muslim domination of Mallorca. These arab baths should not be missed.
Sant Joan airport is 10 km east of Palma and there are many flights per day from Britain. Check out cheapflights.co.uk and lastminute.com for good deals from all airports in Britain. Bus1 runs from Placa Espanya to the airport and then back to the centre of Palma every 20 minutes.
Most parts of the island can be reached by bus from Palma. Mallorca has two train lines with regular services to the inland towns of Inca, Sa Pobla and Manacor on one line and there are five trains per day on the other line to Soller.
Booking.com and ebookers.com are useful websites when looking for accommodation if travelling independently. Most tour operators feature Mallorca holidays. Thomson, Thomas Cook and Simply Travel are just a few examples of such tour operators.
