Majorca Mallorca holidays – click here to find out more
It’s all a load of rubbish – you can buy bottled water when on the Balearic Island of Mallorca and it tastes just fine. Majorca or Mallorca holidays have often had a bad press thanks to the party resort of Magaluf just a hop, skip and a jump from the capital city Palma. Palma itself is a cosmopolitan city full of ancient architecture – go and see the magnificent cathedral – and glitzy restaurants, bars and shops.
To the north of the island is the mountainous region, along with Porto Pollenca – very much the Brits abroad hang-out where you can get a fry-up breakfast and egg and chips for tea. It is very much worth heading up into the mountains for the views alone from the highest point of Puig Major over the Mediterranean – absolutely stunning, and of course a bit cooler if you’re suffering from the high temperatures.
The majority of the beach resorts are to the south and east of the island. Porto d’Andraitx has been adopted by the rich and famous as their sunshine playground and Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas amongst others are known to own properties there. There are frequent flights from all main airports to Palma on a daily basis, often at very reasonable rates. Check out Easyjet for a good deal: they are selling flights for as little as £36.99 one way for those wanting to travel in September from London Stansted to Palma. There is also plenty of accommodation to suit all budgets which means that rather than paying travel agents fees, you can book great Majorca or Mallorca holidays yourself.
