Low-cost Hotels in Chicago

A holiday in Chicago, the famed “Windy City,” won’t blow away the budget. Check out these low-cost Chicago hotels.

Go retro at the Ohio House Motel (which is actually a hotel). This place has been around since the 1960s and has clean, remodelled interiors with all furnishings in good condition. It’s near a lot of attractions too, like the Rock N Roll McDonald's and the Hard Rock Café. Parking is absolutely free!

Staying at the Howard Johnson Inn is a bargain. Another institution in the hospitality industry, it prides itself in being a Quality Excellence President Award winner. Among the in-room amenities are coffeemakers, microwaves, and refrigerators. They also have complimentary parking. This pet-friendly Chicago hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the famed Magnificent Mile.

Even closer to the shopping hotspot is the Red Roof Inn, which attracts budget travellers in droves. Kids aged 16 and below can even stay without charge! Nintendo games will keep them entertained, while adults can enjoy pay-per-view. There is no beating the location of this Chicago hotel, even though its rooms are a bit on the small side.

Offering free shuttle rides to the Magnificent Mile is Essex Inn, which has a huge swimming pool, a fitness centre, and roof lounge. All hotel rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that look out toward grand views of the city. With the “Room with a View” package, guests get a one-night stay plus two tickets to the Sears Tower Skydeck.

Best Western Grant Park Inn offers some more stunning views of the city, and Best Western River North has large rooms, and is surrounded by lots of restaurants. Both are great value for the money.
