What to do on your Los Angeles Holiday
California's largest city is packed full of sights that will take your breath away. Here are some of the most exciting attractions the city can offer on your Los Angeles holiday.
The Universal Studios tour is a must for any visitor. This tour features themed rides based on The Simpsons, Jurassic Park and The Terminator, amongst others. This theme park is also a working studio, enabling you to feel some of the glamour of a working Hollywood set.
The Getty Center high above the 405 freeway is one of the city's most popular sights. Built by architect Richard Meier in 1997, the Getty museum houses artworks by the likes of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Manet. The Getty also offers arguably L.A.'s greatest view, a mountain top vista across the entire city and to the Pacific Ocean.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is another famous sight that tourists cannot afford to overlook. The star studded pathways feature hand and foot prints of stars like John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe, to modern day greats such as Tom Cruise and Susan Sarandon. Throughout the Hollywood Walk of Fame are street performers and stalls, not to mention landmarks such as Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Parts of the walk of fame is also known for the unimpeded views toward famous Hollywood Sign.
While in the area visitors can take a Star Line Tour. These tours visit an array of Hollywood star's homes, from Tom Hanks to Madonna. The buses go right up to the gates of these lavish mansions, and, if you are lucky, you may just catch a glimpse of a celebrity as they go about their daily business. Tours can be booked for as little as £25 per person.
Of course, visitors to Los Angeles cannot leave without visiting some of the area's world class beaches. Venice is a wild and wacky destination, with tattoo artists, fire-breathers, bodybuilders and basketball players adding to the local colour. For a classier beach spot, in the know visitors head down to Newport Beach or Laguna Beach in Orange County. Stocked with classy art stores, family run restaurants, these suburban beaches make for a fantastic day out. While for the budding surfer, there is no better place in California than Huntington Beach, the host of previous World Surfing Championships. Huntington Beach's long pier also features the original Ruby's Diner, a 1950s burger joint with views out over the Pacific.
With so many attractions your Los Angeles holiday is unlikely to get boring. With the likes of Disneyland, Sea World and Santa Monica pier also worth seeing, there's enough to do in the city of angels to last you a lifetime.
