Although very badly damaged by an earthquake in 1960, Agadir has managed to become the main seaside resort in Morocco. It enjoys a very pleasant sunny climate all year round.
The sandy beach stretches for 6 kilometres and is protected from the northerly winds. Close to the beach are many shops, restaurants, gardens and large hotels. A full range of water sports is provided including water skis, jet skis, surfing, sail boarding and pedal boats.
Fed up with lazing on the beach? There are a number of places well worth a visit.
The 1960 earthquake flattened the old medina but the Italian interior decorator Coco Polizzi came up with the idea of building a new one and the new one is very charming. Within the walls of the medina you will find yourself in what feels like a real life medina of tiny lanes, houses, stalls, workshops, a hamman and a cafe. This new medina is still a work in progress.
Agadir has three golf courses, many tennis courts and horse riding stables for the tourist who enjoys getting out and about and trying fun packed activities on their break.
