Is Las Vegas all it’s hyped up to be?

Las Vegas has been used as a film set for countless Hollywood films including but not limited Oceans 11, 21, The Hangover, Godzilla, Think Like a Man Too and most recently Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. But is Las Vegas all that it’s cracked up to be?

It is undoubtedly on many bucket lists of must places to visit. As shown in the films, there is plenty of entertainment and many iconic sights to see such as the Bellagio Fountains, the famous 2.5 mile long Strip, the Venetian Hotel and Gondola rides, the Mirage Hotel. Caesar’s Palace and much more.

But there are many aspects of Vegas that are often overlooked in films. Smoking is a huge problem in Vegas. Many of the hotels and casinos allow smoking making it an unpleasant place for non-smokers or those with asthma.

It is extremely crowded and there are always lines for everything. This includes simple things like checking in to your hotel room and waiting for the buffet, to renting a car. The movies also don’t show the streets littered with cards for call girls.

While some may love gambling and the busyness of the streets and entertainment, others may visit it once and never need nor want to return. Another aspect of Las Vegas that is often overlooked is the wonderful natural beauty only an hour or two away from the bustling city. It is easy to get to Death Valley National Park, Red Rock Canyon and last but certainly not least, the Grand Canyon.
