Is it safe to visit Paris now?
After the recent horrendous attacks on November 13, 2015 in Paris many travellers are questioning whether it is safe to travel to Paris yet or not. Here are a few things to consider which may help you decide whether to cancel or book the trip.
Things are slowly turning back to normal in some ways in Paris. Flights are regular, the Metro Services are back to normal and all of the major tourist attractions have re-opened.
Because many travellers are cautious about travelling here, if you do decide to go, there won’t be as many crowds as what there usually are. Lines for attractions will be shorter and even restaurants, airlines and hotels have been offering promotions to encourage tourists to return.
Things to Consider
Paris is in the midst of a 3 month national state of emergency. This should not be taken lightly. The Foreign Office warns visitors and locals that there is still a high threat of terrorism. They have implemented “systematic border control checks...at all entry points into France.”
If you do decide to go, remember to avoid large crowds or any crowded place, and to carry your passport. Be prepared for random security checks and bag searches and always follow the advice of the local officials.
