Home and away: life in the fast lane for car racing fans.
If you’re a Hamilton fan, with the Monaco Grand Prix over, you’ll already be planning your trip to Silverstone on the 10th of July. The Northampton track pulls out the stops to make it a massive event with an after race summer evening gig sporting former team owner Eddie Jordan on drums and guest appearances by the drivers.
You then have two months to recover before heading for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Northen Italy from the 9th to the 11th of September: tickets are now on sale. Ferrari fans see the legendary track as their home, and the famous race is here to stay until at least 2016.
If you find time to take a break from the fast lane, the town, which lies north east of Milan on the picturesque river Lambro, has an attractive historic centre with the Romanesque-Gothic Duomo (Cathedral) of St John at its heart. It also boasts Monza Park, one of the largest enclosed parks in Europe. Fashionistas might like to make a pit stop in Milan to glance at Gucci, Versace and Armani's hot designer gear.
Full-service airlines BA, Alitalia and Lufthansa fly to Milan as does budget airline Easy Jet.
