Top things to do on your holidays in Perth Australia
Here at Excite Travel, we just love Perth - in fact, it's one of our favourite cities in the whole world! To help you appreciate it as much as we do, we've rounded up five of the best things to do while you're on holidays in Perth Australia.
Take in the views from Kings Park- one of the best ways to see the city is from above, but you don't have to shell out for a Sky Deck or Observation Wheel in Perth. Just make the hike up to Kings Park and enjoy the impressive city skyline from the beautiful lemon-gum scented park.
Tuck into fish and chips in Fremantle - Fremantle, or "Freo" to the locals, is just a short train ride from central Perth, but it feels a world away. This historic port town boasts some beautiful old period buildings, a fascinating former convict prison and, of course, some of the best fish and chips you'll ever try. Cicerello's, located right on the harbour, is our favourite.
Lick an ice cream cone on the South Perth foreshore - hop on a ferry and cross the Swan River to South Perth, where there's a good cappuccino strip with a couple of ice cream parlours (including Cold Rock). The ice cream is good, but the real appeal is the people watching. Locals come here to barbecue, work out, roller skate or just enjoy the sunshine.
Shop in Subiaco - Subiaco, or "Subi", is Perth's hottest suburb, and the Rokeby Road is packed with boutiques, trendy cafes, second hand bookshops and designer stores. Even if you're strictly window shopping, you'll enjoy taking in the atmosphere.
Get out of the city! - It would be a shame to visit Western Australia and not visit some of its other great destinations. Margaret River, Busselton, the Pinnacles and Mandurah are within day trip range from Perth. Further afield, don't miss Esperance, Broome and the Kimberley.
