On Saturday, events include afternoon cookery demonstrations by the celebrity chef and author Tom Kime for those keen to improve their culinary skills, followed by a family treasure hunt along the beach, reports the Independent.
Sunday starts off with a jazz breakfast with music from Ronnie Scott’s award-winning vocalist Liane Carroll, and in the afternoon local restaurateur Paul Webbe will demonstrate how to get to grips with a perfectly cooked fish and present it filleted and ready to eat.
Around 50 exhibitors will set up stalls on the Rock-a-Nore Road, just off the attractive and atmospheric fishing area of The Stade and a marquee will be providing the best of English wine and cider for sampling. In addition, expect guided walks around town, demonstrations of traditional net-making and mending and plenty of live music.
Hastings was, for centuries, an important fishing port and still has the largest beach-based fishing fleet in England. Its seafood industry is proud to have won certification for its methods of sustainable fishing for mackerel, herring and sole.
