Harry Potter heaven in Orlando, Florida
As you tucked into the final book of the Harry Potter series, you may have heaved a sigh at the lack of fantasy, magic and adventure around you as you compared broomsticks to scooters, wizard robes to raincoats and butterbeer to...well...beer. Now, fans have the opportunity to live for themselves the dream-world of Quidditch, Hogwarts and all things witchery at Universal Orlando in Florida, U.S., MSNBC Travel reports.
Boasting the full experience for Potter-philes, the park contains a Hogswart Express train and snow-capped Hogsmeade village, complete with Zonko's Jokeshop, Honeydukes sweet-shop and owl post where visitors can post mail franked with a Hogsmeade postmark. For those pretending to be the intrepid trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione, imagining their frequent trips into the nearby village, there is plenty of merchandise to be snapped up including wands (magical effects not guaranteed), broomsticks and Gryffindor attire.
After having had your fill of butterbeer, a cream soda concoction which has won the hearts of those flocking to Florida, there are three main amusement park rides to try out, including the 'Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey' ride, which seeks to simulate 'the sensation of flight with tactile experiences like smoke and drops of water as it takes guests through a hodgepodge of encounters in Potter's chaotic life'.
Attention to faithfully recreating details from the movies was the primary aim of the park's creators; 'construction was overseen by the production manager from the Potter movies'. So far, the reviews from fans and critics alike have been extremely positive with some fans reportedly crying with joy at having the chance to sample Pumpkin juice for real. Well, that's 'superfans' for you!
