Fly from Southampton to the beautiful, historic city of Avignon.
In the heart of the south of France, yet just inland from the coast, thus avoiding the over the top opulence of the seasonal jet set, Avignon makes the perfect base for a warm, atmospheric summer holiday in the sun. It’s a city that has been lovingly preserved, with stunning medieval architecture whose jewel in the crown is the Palace of the Popes, and the famous ‘Pont d’Avignon’ that many of us sang about when studying French as children.
When you’ve soaked up the laid back atmosphere of the town, there are plenty of places to visit. Nimes, Marseille and Toulon are all just a short drive or train ride away if cities are your thing, or nature lovers can chill out in the beautiful coastal region of the Carmargue. Aix-En-Provence is another must-visit nearby city with interesting shops and cafes, and if you fancy taking to the water, take a ferry from Toulon or Marseilles to one of the French islands, including Corsica.
Fly direct to Avignon from Southampton Airport with flybe. Visit their web site at www.flybe.com or call 0871 700 2000 if you prefer the personal touch. Bon Voyage!
