Travel to your favourite film sets!
Have you ever been so inspired by a beautiful film location that you want to travel to it and experience it for yourself? The world is full of beautiful film sets and filming locations, from European cities to wild central American jungles. Here we look at just a few of our favourites...
Paris, France - Paris is the backdrop for so many beautiful film sets. In particular, Amelie and Midnight in Paris draw on the city's charms. Head to the arty Montmartre district to discover Amelie's Paris, including the real life cafe where she worked (Café des 2 Moulins), which is located on Rue Lepic.
Jökulsárlón, Iceland - Who could forget that incredible scene in Die Another Day with the ice palace and the frozen lake? You can have a Bond style adventure of your own by snowmobiling or super-jeeping at the country's largest glacier, Vatnajökull. In the summer you can also enjoy boat trips to see towering icebergs.
Cocos Island, Costa Rica - Michael Crichton's novel Jurassic Park centres on Isla Nublar off the west coast of Costa Rica. Unfortunately the island is fictitious, but Cocos Island was probably the inspiration. It's a stunningly beautiful location that made the shortlist for the new Seven Wonders of the World.
Ko Phi Phi Le, Thailand - If you've ever seen The Beach, starring Leonardo diCapro, you'll have a rough idea of just how beautiful Ko Phi Phi Le is. This idyllic spot is perfect for a day trip from Krabi, Phuket or Ko Phi Phi Don - there are no hotels on the island itself.
New Zealand - The Lord of the Rings trilogy was largely filmed on both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. Fans of the movies will recognise New Zealand's highest mountain peak, Aoraki Mt Cook, as the Misty Mountains of Middle Earth; and the volcanic landscapes of the Central North Island as Mordor.
