Fast Food on the Fly: Part 2
We continue our guide to the best in American fast food to be found in the nation’s airports. Check out Part 1 here.
If good ol’ fashioned Texas barbeque’s your thing, get your last chance to fill up on the sticky smoky good stuff at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. An outpost of local favourite Salt Lick Bar-B-Que can be found in the West Food Court. It’s got everything you need to put a smile on your face and meaty wrongness in your arteries including acres of brisket and smoked sausage all swimming in delicious sauce. Just make sure you munch it up before you board, just in case you coat the unsuspecting guy next to you in brown goop.
If you’re in the home of Coca-Cola, world-beating fast food can’t be far behind. Throughout the South, Chick-fil-A reigns supreme, eschewing the cow-flavoured stuff for a festival of all things chicken, not to mention their awesome waffle fries. The Chick-fil-A way demands that their employees are perhaps a tad too much on the super-helpful side, but that’s a minor gripe. Get your chicken on near gate A11 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.Memphis
When it comes to keeping Elvis’ dream alive of readily available tasty heart-endangering food, Interstate Bar-B-Que within the Concourse B Rotunda at Memphis International Airport is equal to the task. Ribs, brisket, pork shoulder are just some of the smoky morsels that will have you exclaiming ‘Love Me(at) Tender’, although be careful, overfill and you’ll be ‘All Shook Up’ in the air. Sorry, Elvis.
