If you’re tearing your hair out looking for a destination that will please your partner, your children and yourself, you don’t need to look far, or travel far either. Edinburgh and London have been named the second and third most family-friendly cities in Europe respectively by TripAdvisor, beaten only by the Tuscan city of Florence, reports the Daily Mail.
Both cities offer rich cultural histories and plenty of free amusements for children, with castles and museums galore to please all family members. Visit the Scottish capital’s world-famous Edinburgh Castle, the Camera Obscura and World of Illusions for five floors of hands-on exhibits, or tour the Royal Yacht Britannia.
If London is a surprise entry, it’s because it’s considered less expensive for families than rumour has it, with a number of attractions free of charge, including the British Museum, the Imperial War Museum, the Tate Britain, Tate Modern, the parks, the commons and so on, leaving you some cash to treat yourself to a whirl on the London Eye and visit the Tower of London.
