Don’t miss the great events happening in Rome this month.
From classical to jazz, to rock and rap, it’s all happening this month in Rome. There are a host of activities and events designed to keep music lovers entertained in the cool of the night, so let us tell you about just a few.
For big names, check out Rome’s Auditorium (www.auditorium.com) where the oldies but goodies are performing this month. Burt Bacharach, Lou Reed, George Benson and Sting are all billed to play in the large outdoor amphitheatre (Cavea) of this architecturally impressive concert hall. Tickets don’t come cheap, ranging from €20-€220 but you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth.
If you’re watching the pennies, you can still have a very Roman experience at the International Festival of Villa Adriana in the fabulous Tivoli Gardens just outside town. There’s theatre, music, dance and circus all on offer with tickets starting at €15.
Alternatively, if ‘Americana’ music is your thing, what better place to listen to a concert than in the courtyard of S. Ivo alla Sapienza, the site of Rome’s original 15th century university? The International Chamber Ensemble will play Gershwin, Bernstein and Frank Sinatra hits on the 13th, 29th and 30th of the month and there are Argentinian theme evenings on the 16th and 19th. Tickets are €20 (www.interensemble.org)
