Crete

Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and is one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece. Some of the main attractions include the ancient sites of the Minoan civilisation, the historical city and port of Chania, the Venetian castle at Rethymno, and the Palm Beach in Vai, which is the largest natural palm forest in Europe. The climate is mostly Mediterranean with warm, dry summers and mild winters.

Flights

Crete is serviced by the two main international airports in Heraklion and Chania. Flights from Dublin take close to four hours and there are usually direct flights available during the summer months to these airports. Prices can vary depending on when you wish to travel. Flights tend to be cheaper during the cooler months of autumn. Prices are highest during the peak summer months. There are still some good deals to be had and if you book in advance you can get a real bargain.

Hotels
