Christmas is over, it's time to go to Goa
If you were one of the lucky ones to be snowed under or iced in over Christmas then you'll have saved a packet on pressies since you couldn't make it to the shops.... Now, there are two things you can do: buy said pressies in the sales and have a little left over for yourself, or justifiably claim that the terror of the shock freeze in the UK and Ireland this year has shaken you so much you need to thaw out on the beach.
Decided? So where to?
Arambol, Goa in India. For some, Goa is the holy grail of hippy hedonism; for others it represents the worst excesses of modern travel, or, as Alambama 3 sang in Ain't Goin' to Goa “'There ain't nothing worse than some fool lying on some third world beach wearing spandex, psychedelic trousers, smoking damn dope pretending he's gettin' consciousness expansion.'
But if you need to lie on said beach to make up your mind then the sweeping stretch of sand is so beautiful it wins over even the most jaded and cynical of travellers. Around the rocky headland there is another beach where you can walk for miles without coming across a soul, or hang out at the freshwater lake backed by a small jungle.
Mmm, another turkey sandwich anyone?
