Cheap flights to Barcelona
The elegant and passionate city of Barcelona is one of the highlights of Spain. Stroll down the Rambla or check out the markets and galleries. With cheap flights to Barcelona available from Bristol, a short break or a longer stay are tempting.
EasyJet (easyjet.com) flies direct to Barcelona from Bristol all year round. Outward flights start at £23.99, with the return legs starting at £17.99, including taxes, but there are additional charges for hold baggage and credit card payments. Travel with hand baggage only and you might be able to secure a round trip for under £50.
Ryanair (ryanair.com) offers direct flights to Girona, north of Barcelona, heading towards the Pyrenees. Although the Ryanair website is not the easiest to navigate, it shouldn't be too difficult to find the lowest tax-free fares. There are add-on charges for luggage, EU levies, check-in and credit cards, but the canny traveller can often find round trip fares for well under £100.
Girona is well-connected to Barcelona by public transport. You can take a fast shuttle bus from the airport which should get you to Barcelona inside 90 minutes. Alternatively, travel into Girona, have a coffee or a beer in its charming old town, before taking the train to Barcelona.
In summer, there are regular charter flights from airlines including Airtours, Thomas Cook (thomascook.com) and Thomson (thomson.co.uk) offering flights from Bristol to Reus. These flights serve the resorts on the Costa Brava. Reus is less than an hour by bus or train from Barcelona city centre. If you can manage to obtain a flight-only deal, this might be a useful alternative source of cheap flights to Barcelona.
