Thinking of going camping in Scotland with the kids this summer?
Camping is a great idea for a family holiday especially if you are thinking of staying in this country and exploring what the UK has to offer. Camping in Scotland with kids is a brilliant option as there is everything you could want on the doorstep, and more.
Scotland boasts many campsites in both remote and well-populated areas so you can choose a location that suits your needs best. The beauty of camping of course that it is very easy to visit more than one place during the holiday and stay at more than one campsite. Whether you are looking for a campsite by the sea, in the mountains or a stone's throw from one of the major cities, Scotland has something to suit everyone.
We love the Staffin Camping and Caravan Site on the Isle of Skye in the Hebrides. It is set amongst some of Scotland's most stunning scenery with views over the Hebridean Minch and a backdrop of the Totternish Ridge and Quirang. The campsite has been family run for over 40 years and welcomes campers of all ages. There are laundry facilities, showers, access to a kitchen with cooking facilities, kettle and microwave, and the site is only one mile from the beach and a 20 minute drive from the ferry port at Uig.
We also like the look of the Cannich Caravan and Camping Park which is perfect for camping in Scotland with the kids. It is an ideal base for visiting the three glens of Affric, Cannich and Starthfarrar. There are brilliant walks and mountain bike trails in the local area, and the campsite itself enjoys a village location and is in walking distance of a shop and a bar and restaurant.
