Cheap, last-minute family holidays.
As the summer holidays for the kids kick in and the youngsters are raring to go, you may already be regretting not having booked a family get away to keep them entertained, and to keep you sane. Well, the good news is that it’s not too late. Whereas in the past you had to reserve as soon as Christmas was over in order to avoid prohibitive high season prices, nowadays holiday firms don’t have it so easy. With the economic slowdown, companies are having to offer tempting deals in order to sell their wares, and a lot of these are last minute.
If you like to keep the family active, check out Esprit Holidays (www.espritfamilyadventures.com 01252 618300) who are offering a host of deals on summer Alpine breaks, reports the Daily Mail. One of their best reductions is a £757 discount for a family of four on a week’s stay in early August in Alpe d'Huez in the French Alps. The week costs £799 full-board, reduced from £1,556, which is a massive reduction. Alpe d’Huez, with its beautiful scenery, is known to many as it has staged most finishes of the Tour de France. The price does not include travel but Easy Jet (www.easyjet.com) flies to Grenoble from London Gatwick. Grenoble airport is approximately 40 miles from Alpe d’Huez.
Esprit Holidays have a number of other destinations with healthy Alpine air and the promise of family fun, so take a look at their website to see what's available.
