Las Vegas: at first glance it’s hard to tell the numerous casino hotels apart. Apart from a desire to stay in a big fake pyramid or a scaled-down Eiffel Tower that must be a constant insult to French people everywhere, how do you best pick the place to satisfy your interests beyond the obvious Vegas sins of gambling and drinking. We’ve come up with the best places for any holiday whim you might have.
Art Lovers: The Bellagio
Home to The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, the Bellagio is the one place on the strip where you can take a break from the 32oz margheritas and sunburnt tourists and take in some breathtaking art. Currently on show: Renoir, Picasso, Hockney, Lichtenstein and Viola.
Shopaholics: The Palazzo
Alongside a scaled down St. Mark’s square and a Disneyfied gondola experience of The Venetian’s Grand Canal Shops, is The Palazzo’s upscale shopping experience, giving lucky gamblers the chance to blow their winnings until midnight. Shops include: Barneys; Anya Hindmarch; Christian Louboutin and Chloe.
Fine Dining: The MGM Grand
Boasting not only Joel Robuchon’s Vegas leading Michelin 3-star restaurant, the gigantic MGM Grand is also home to the 1-star L’Atelier Robuchon giving you the choice between very fancy and very expensive and extremely fancy and extremely expensive. The Bellagio comes in a very close second with two 1-star (Le Cirque and Michael Mina) and one 2-star (Picasso) entry.
