Best Ski Resorts for Beginners in Europe

Whether you are a young or old, learning how to ski can be an exciting adventure. There are numerous ski resorts around Europe that are catered for beginners and are the perfect starting off point to learn and test out your skiing abilities.


Les Arcs in the northern French Alps have 98.5 km of slopes available for beginners. There are plenty of wide nursery slopes and a free beginners lift. Arc 2000 is the place for absolute beginners but once you are feeling more confident and comfortable on the slopes, move up to Arc 1800.


Another beginner option in the northern French Alps is Les 3 Vallees. The 3 villages in this area are Courchevel, Meribel and Val Thorens with easy runs to most of the villages. In total they offer 312 km of easy runs and spacious beginner areas in Les Menuires, Courchevel 1540 and 1850 and Val Thorens.


The Altesch Arena in Switzerland has 46km for beginners stretched over the 3 ski areas of Betteralp, Fiescheralp and Riederalp. Riederalp was voted as having one of the best ski schools for children in the Alps along with great tutors for adults.

For the best value for money, Bansko in southwest Bulgaria is the place to go. It has 16 runs, 30% of them being aimed at beginners. There are great instructors available and plenty of room for bargaining as well.
