Autumn Holidays in the UK
Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons. It is not too hot or too cold, but just right. Not only is the temperature ideal, but the colours are pleasant on the eyes. Here are some autumn holidays in the UK that will get you out enjoying all that nature has to offer.
Bedgebury Forest and Pinetum near Tunbridge Wells in Kent is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to enjoy the great outdoors. The National Pinetum has the largest collection of coniferous trees in world with over 400 varieties spread over 350 acres. The forest itself is full of mountain bike and walking tracks which are fun to explore and even more fun to see at night when it is transformed into an electric forest with lights.
Derbyshire is home to the National Forest which is filled with fun things to discover for both children and adults. There are over 7.8 million planted trees to enjoy and plenty of local hotels to relax in once you are finished exploring for the day. In the forest lies Conkers Discovery Centre and Rosliston Forestry Centre which are both great for the children. They can experience exploring the view from above while on a tree top walk or trying their hand at archery.
There are also holidays that 'balance' exercise with drink. Simply head to Wales for the Real Ale Wobble which is a mountain biking event mixed with alcohol. Before the race begins, participants receive tokens that they can exchange for locally brewed ale at checkpoints along the way. Unsurprisingly, this mountain bike event kicks off the Mid Wales Beer Festival that runs from November 13-22.
If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy walking in the fresh autumn air and meeting new people, the Welsh International Four Days’ Walk. This is a non competitive event that gives participants the option of walking 10, 15 or 25 miles each day. It runs in mid-September and includes plenty of great entertainment and accommodation.
