For unparalleled luxury, gourmet food, and an air of romance, Paris is the perfect holiday destination. A Paris holiday will bring you to 20 different districts; all of which are so mesmerising, you'll want to stay longer in the City of Lights.
The districts are set up in a spiral, with the oldest as the 1st inner district, surrounded by the next oldest district, and so on. In the 1st district, you'll find the Louvre, a former fortress and palace for French Royalty, which has been converted into a massive museum; it contains more than 35,000 pieces of artwork, and an exhibit area of about 740,000 sq ft. Aside from the museum, you'll find haute couture, designer shops, and some of the finest French jewellers in the area. The city’s largest shopping centre, Forum des Halles, is also located here.
The 2nd district typifies the Paris scene, with backstreets of cafés, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants; also here is the theatre district, where a dozen or so playhouses are set up.
Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral in the 4th district to see one of the most beautiful churches in the world; another site in the itinerary is the 7th district, where you'll find the Eiffel Tower, which is the landmark of France, as well as the hotspot for lovers and sightseers. When you reach the 8th district, you'll see the most gorgeous shopping avenue in the world, the Champs-Elysees.
The 11th district, more commonly known as Bastille district, has been a trendy gathering place for Paris’s young, in-crowd, especially with the rise of numerous restaurants and nightspots along Rue du Faubourg-St-Antoin.
